Arthur Arthur Woofington is nearly 4 years old but I have only had him for 2 years. He was a rescue dog from the Blue Cross and was a hectic, untrained dog when I first had him. He'd had several homes before coming to me, the one before me being a very old man who rarely took him out of his flat - therefore it was like having a puppy because he was completely unsocialised. He just barked insanely through his first obedience class - sensory overload after being cooped up in a flat for a year! I think he must have been mistreated in some way as even now hides under the bed when washing is being hung out and hates traffic cones (!!!???).We did over a year of obedience training before starting agility....and even now I think we need to go back sometimes as his control when other dogs are around is minimal!! At the end of obedience training he managed to pass the Silver Kennel Club Good Citizenship Award. As Arthur is a rescue do not know his history but his size and shape is mainly Jack Russell Terrier, with a sprinkling of collie somewhere along the line. As a result of this he is a confused lad - loves tugging games (definitely a terrier!) but shows no interest in going down holes! I think agility is important for him for a bit of exercise - although I try to walk him 3 times a day he is generally sedentary - sits under my desk at work all day! |
